Specific Tools Reflection

Specific tools are an amazing and versatile way of incorporating many engaging and fun activities for all learners. Specific tools include a variety of options including Audacity, Moodle, Skype, Voki, Wordle, and many other options. All of these provide an alternative to the common and traditional forms of teaching many of us are used to. These tools give the teachers and learners an incredible amount of ideas and resources which they can adapt to the particular subject area they are focusing and also allow for better integration of multiple subjects.
Google Earth is the tool we used for our activity. It is an incredible manner in which to experience and explore the many geographical areas of our world. The tool allows for the combination of many subjects including geography, mathematics, science, history, writing, and practically every other subject. It is a great site to apply cross cultural awareness and global learning opportunities with other classes around the world. The possibilities of using Google Earth are really endless.
Vokis are another very interesting tool I am looking forward to using. It is a great tool to immerse students in research and in depth analysis of a topic. Having them prepare themselves to present with their avatars is a fun and interesting change of routine from the normal speaking presentations they usually do.
